I don't use Threads but aren't you limited on character count there like Twitter and Bluesky? I started trying to write on Bluesky but I got frustrated with linking multiple notes in order to write anything more than 300-characters. I have about 3400 followers on Bluesky with my photography account with a fairly healthy amount of interaction but I gave up trying to write there... so I deactivated that account. Which is why I am here. Now, with that said, I have been here less than 1 month and have about 20 subscribers. We'll see how it goes... but I will keep on writing and sharing.
Thanks for sharing Peter, really useful and it marries up with what I’ve experienced over these three platforms. Bluesky feels like a firehose of content, you throw your stuff in and it can quickly get lost.
That's crazy! I consistently repurpose posts between Threads and Bluesky and get zilch on Threads. Meanwhile Bluesky took the heck off for me 🤔 still not a lot on Substack though
I found the same thing with Bluesky. Almost zero real engagement, even I was actively engaging with others. And the algorithm was only showing me people I followed after a while, no new people for a hundred posts or more from followed people.
A question about cross-posting and repurposing, Peter et al. I've got 100 articles over on Medium and a number of people have suggested I gradually bring them over to Substack. Can I do so without making any changes?
Was curious about Bluesky, got busy but it was on my "verify" list. Thank you for saving me the time.
Twit-X-Meta-Facecrook-TikSuck minions are not worth my peace.👏👏👏😊
Facecrook. 🤣 I never heard it called that, but it's a good one.
I did the same but with substack and blue sky. (And I got like 200 new followers out of no where on blue sky…)
And I got the most engagement on blue sky compare to substack. But last week that shifted big time. Nothing on blue sky and few here.
The algorithm is not our friends.
Interesting. For me, Bluesky was consistently bad.
You should try Threads too.
Thx for sharing this Peter, great experiment!
Curious: why did you not add X and LI to he mix?
I am banned on X :)) and I don’t know too much about LinkedIn. Maybe in the future I’ll start posting on it.
banned from meta – haha
This is interesting! For me, I don't get anything on Threads and a bunch on Bluesky from time to time. Idk what's wrong with Threads for me
I never got anywhere on Threads so I gave up on it a long time ago.

so your conclusion - platoform that gained more traction is winner, the bigger the better...right?
it is mistake to measure "success" (quality?) by metrics !

Some niches probably do better than others on Bluesky. On which platform do you spend the most of your time?
I main Bluesky and barely ever touch Threads. So maybe it's because I interact on Bsky so much that's it's taking off 🤔
This is great to know. I don't think I want to take on another social media platform, but if I did, it would clearly make sense to post on Threads.
Good insight 😌 Can i translate part of this article into Spanish with links to you and a description of your newsletter?

Interesting! Thanks for sharing!
Sharing the content with other platforms that has the potential to reach out your value and show in peoples pages is a good idea.

Yes, you can. I did the same thing after I started writing on Substack.
Thanks for sharing your experiment. - It's amazing how one popular piece doesn't do as well on another platform.
