This is against SEO practices. Google penalizes duplicated content if it is identical.
I suppose Substack has realized that this doesn't help their authority If they want to become a better platform than Medium. The same happens with AI-generated content. It won't last long here.
Interesting data points! Just signed up for/started with most of these and have actually had the opposite experience so far. Blue sky seemed to almost force followers onto me while the others have required deliberate outreach to other users or existing contacts.
They’re very different beasts. I don’t believe you can post exactly the same thing on any social media channel and expect the same results. I joined Bluesky at the end of last year and worked hard on engaging with people. I’ve gained 4000+ followers in that short time. I joined Substack more recently but I’m not worried about the followers. I’d rather have 100 really engaged and loyal supporters than 4000 who just scroll on by. In fact one of the main reasons I moved to Bluesky was the algorithm (or lack of)!
That's crazy! I consistently repurpose posts between Threads and Bluesky and get zilch on Threads. Meanwhile Bluesky took the heck off for me 🤔 still not a lot on Substack though
I also use Bluesky and Threads in addition to Substack, generally (for me) the lowest amount of interaction comes from Substack - the tumbleweed is often deafening 😏
To put it lightly, Bluesky bites the big one. But I agree, Threads and Substack seem to appreciate a similar style of content. Threads really loves meme culture, so adding a gif or clip to your post will usually help push it through the algorithm
I made why here by way of Threads. It was an AMAZING platform for a while, then the “social media bug” plague happened and the drama got to be bigger than my inspiration. So I made my way here to try and rebuild a community sans drama. It’s refreshing, for sure, but gaining ground seems to be a bit slower.
I did the same but with substack and blue sky. (And I got like 200 new followers out of no where on blue sky…)
And I got the most engagement on blue sky compare to substack. But last week that shifted big time. Nothing on blue sky and few here.
The algorithm is not our friends.
Interesting. For me, Bluesky was consistently bad.
You should try Threads too.

Was curious about Bluesky, got busy but it was on my "verify" list. Thank you for saving me the time.
Twit-X-Meta-Facecrook-TikSuck minions are not worth my peace.👏👏👏😊
Facecrook. 🤣 I never heard it called that, but it's a good one.
Thx for sharing this Peter, great experiment!
Curious: why did you not add X and LI to he mix?
I am banned on X :)) and I don’t know too much about LinkedIn. Maybe in the future I’ll start posting on it.
banned from meta – haha
Hi, just curious, are the number of users similar across all three apps?
Maybe less followers or traction of posts is because of lesser number of users on other apps (popularity might play a part)?
Threads is by far the most popular, with around 350 million monthly active users. I'm sure this plays an important role.
Superb share! Thanks.

Some niches probably do better than others on Bluesky. On which platform do you spend the most of your time?
I main Bluesky and barely ever touch Threads. So maybe it's because I interact on Bsky so much that's it's taking off 🤔
Interesting.
I am also a Substack > Thread > Bluesky person!
The same for me!
This is interesting! For me, I don't get anything on Threads and a bunch on Bluesky from time to time. Idk what's wrong with Threads for me
I never got anywhere on Threads so I gave up on it a long time ago.
So you don‘t post on X at all?
Just out of curiosity, did you stop or have you never been active over there?
Just wondering as it feels super empty and almost all of the nice people outside of AI Art are gone.
I cannot post on X because I'm banned :D
It's not a social media I used too much before, anyway.
I also use Bluesky and Threads in addition to Substack, generally (for me) the lowest amount of interaction comes from Substack - the tumbleweed is often deafening 😏
Cause we read a lot. 😍
Blue sky is infested with trolls and bots .

I agree Bluesky seems to go nowhere fast
Threads is much better
But here and X are still king
